Board of
Directors
• Matt Miller, Chairman and CEO,
most recently served as President and CEO of NxtWave
Communications, a leading supplier of semiconductor chips for
emerging digital television markets worldwide. At NxtWave,
he successfully raised 3 rounds of funding and oversaw the
merger of NxtWave with ATI Communications, a large
publicly-traded graphics chips supplier. Previously, he
served as VP of Technology at both Viacom and General
Instrument, where he reported directly to Donald Rumsfeld during
the company’s critical privatization and turn-around period.
Dr. Miller began his career doing research on semiconductor
devices at RCA Laboratories (now Sarnoff Laboratories).
Following RCA, he held a variety of technical and operational
responsibilities at Perkin-Elmer Corp., where his research
included space-based infrared sensors and systems, balloon-borne
high resolution infrared spectroscopy instruments, and
fundamental work on critical components including tunable lead
salt infrared lasers and a variety of infrared detectors.
He received his BA in physics, magna cum laude, from Harvard
College and his Ph.D. in solid state physics from Princeton
University.
• William Dioguardi is President
of Spencer Trask Ventures, Inc. and a principal in Spencer Trask
& Co., a position he has held since 1994. Under his
management, Spencer Trask Ventures has raised and invested over
$1 billion in a diverse range of start-up companies. Mr.
Dioguardi is also General Partner and Member Manager of the
Spencer Trask Private Equity Funds I, II, Accredited Fund III
and the Illumination Fund, Garfield Associates, and Lincoln
Associates, all of which are diversified venture capital funds
that invest in Spencer Trask Ventures private equity
opportunities.
Prior to joining Spencer Trask Ventures, Mr. Dioguardi was a
founder and President of Vantage Securities, a NASD and SIPC
member firm, which specialized in private and public offerings
for emerging growth companies. From 1980 to 1988, Mr.
Dioguardi was a member of the Executive Committee and First Vice
President of Integrated Resources, Inc. Mr. Dioguardi is a
member of the Board of Directors for Concord Equity Advisors,
Spencer Trask & Co., and Multispectral Imaging, Inc.
Mr. Dioguardi graduated from Montclair Kimberly Academy and
received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Monmouth
University.
• Tuvia Barak,
Independent Director, is a member of the Board of Directors of
Skyline, Atair, and Fairchild Imaging, and a senior advisor to
Lux Capital. In 1982 Mr. Barak joined Tadiran, Inc., the North
American subsidiary of Tadiran, the largest electronics
conglomerate in Israel. During his 12-year tenure over $3
Billion of revenue were achieved under his direction, and Tadiran became one of the major suppliers of Tactical
Communications to the U. S. Army. Mr. Barak developed strategic
alliances and partnerships with some of the largest aerospace
companies. In 1993, Mr. Barak established his own marketing and
consulting practice, advising U. S. and international companies
on business development, marketing strategies, technology
assessment, and mergers and acquisitions in the aerospace and
technology fields. His clients have included The Carlyle Group,
L-3, BAE, DRS, Elbit, United Defense, Rockwell Collins, and
Raytheon.
Mr. Barak is presently a member
of the Board of Directors of Multispectral Imaging, Inc.
He has a M.Sc. in E.E. from the Technion Institute of
Technology, Haifa, Israel.
• Joshua Grotstein is Managing
Partner and Co- Founder of SAS Investors, a venture capital firm
created to grow the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast's most promising
seed- and early-stage high-technology ventures.
Prior to co-founding SASI, Mr. Grotstein served as division
executive for global Internet and e-commerce programs at
Citigroup; led the content and commerce efforts at Prodigy and
was a member of the senior executive team leading the spin-out
(from IBM and Sears); founded and became the first general
manager of NBC Online Ventures and helped establish the
NBC-Microsoft joint venture from which MSNBC was created.
He has also had significant Marketing and Business Development
experience across various technology and communication sectors
working at CNBC and J. Walter Thompson.
Mr. Grotstein currently serves on the Boards of Multispectral
Imaging and Backfence. He holds an MBA from Harvard
Business School and a B.A. from Brown University.
• Kef Kasdin is a General Partner
at Battelle Ventures and Innovation Valley Partners and has been
involved in developing and executing strategy for
high-technology companies for more than 15 years. Kef has
been involved in Venture Capital since September 2000, when she
became a partner at Early Stage Enterprises, L.P. During her
career, Kef held a number of positions of increasing importance
at 3Com Corporation in Santa Clara, Calif. Among those, she was
Vice President and General Manager of the $1-billion Ethernet
Products Division. In the fall of 1998 Kef was named
3Com’s first Executive in Residence, Office of the Chairman,
driving key strategic and operational initiatives for the
company.
In the late 90’s Kef was a Business and
Marketing Consultant to a dozen technology start-ups in New
Jersey. Ms. Kasdin is presently a member of the Board of
Directors of Multispectral Imaging, Inc. She received her
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University and
her MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford
University.
